Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) has arrested a man named Ariful Islam (27) in connection with the murder of Hasan Mahmud, the security guard of ATM booth of Madhumati Bank in Shahjadpur, Gulshan of the capital. Sensational information came out after his arrest.
Before Ariful plans to rob the bank booth, he learns bank robberies by watching YouTube. After that, he bought a hammer and a knife from the Swadhin Bangla Market in Gulistan as parts for that work. Later, he bought the Bangladesh cricket team jersey from the footpath of Gulistan. His thought was that he would pick a bank booth in a less crowded area as a place to rob money. Accordingly, he targeted the ATM booth of Madhumati Bank in Shahjadpur. He did reiki before the incident. Then he stayed in that area from the night before the incident till dawn. At one point, he saw the opportunity and entered. But when the security personnel stopped him, Ariful brutally killed him. Then run away.

However, Ariful, who was arrested in this incident, claimed that he was in the business of selling furniture. Later, when he started the business of selling stones, he faced losses and got into debt. He also tried unsuccessfully to sell his kidney to pay off the debt. At one stage he decided to rob the bank and repay the loan. That is why he went to Shahjadpur to rob a bank that day. But the security personnel saw him and killed him.
Head of DB and Additional Commissioner of DMP Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid gave this information in a press conference organized at DMP Media Center in the capital on Monday (April 22).
Earlier, Ariful was arrested by DB in a raid in the capital.
According to the arrested Ariful, he used to transport various office and home furniture for the last 10 to 12 years. Last 2 to 3 years he started brick, sand, stone supply business along with this business on the advice of his friends. But due to losses in this business, he became in debt of 14 to 15 lakhs. At one stage he left leaflets in Mirpur area trying to sell one of his kidneys. But the kidney could not be sold. Unable to pay his creditors, they went to his house and searched for him. Due to the pressure and fear of creditors, he has been separated from his family for the past few months and has been hiding in various places including Mirpur-1 of the capital. Then he started thinking and planning how to pay the money. He thought of robbing the ATM booth.

How Ariful implemented the plan
Arrested Ariful claimed to DB that he learned bank/ATM booth robbery by watching YouTube videos. After that he killed to rob but planned to loot the ATM booth money. To implement the plan, Haturi, Hemar, Cheni, Chapati, Sabal, Chaku from Mirpur Pallabi Millat Camp intersection and bought a Bangladesh cricket team jersey from Mirpur stadium footpath. Then he started thinking where people are less crowded. To choose that area, he went around Dhaka. After that, he attacked Madhumati Bank’s ATM booth under Maisha Chowdhury Tower in Shahjadpur, Gulshan. On the night of the incident, he reached the spot by taking a Turag bus. Stayed there all night. After monitoring for about one and a half hours, he was stopped by Hasan Mahmud, the security staff of the booth, when he entered the ATM booth around 5:30 am. At that time he hacked him to death with a chapati. Then Atim tried to break the booth with hammer, hammer, chisel, saber, chapati. At one stage he tried for about 10 to 12 minutes but failed to break the ATM booth. Later he left the spot with a small knife leaving the used hammer, hammer, chisel, saber, chapati, bag at the spot. Then at 5:30 Ashim boarded a Paribahan bus and took off the Bangladesh cricket team jersey he was wearing and put it under the seat. While landing at Mirpur, Kalshi left his jersey on the divider at the head of the road.
On April 10, around five in the morning, Ariful hacked to death the security guard Hasan Mahmud working at the ATM booth of Madhumati Bank. Later, the victim’s brother Mahfuzur Rahman Rumel filed a case at Gulshan Police Station as the plaintiff. Ariful was shown arrested in that case.
