A 60-year-old woman was killed after being raped and her body was buried on the floor of her own house for stopping her from consuming drugs.
Barisal District Police Superintendent Wahidul Islam gave this information at a press conference on Sunday after unraveling the mystery of the incident after seven months of disappearance.
Rizia Begum, wife of the deceased Zainal Gazi of Madhya Katadia village in Bakerganj of the district, went missing seven months ago. The case was filed by the deceased’s brother Howladar Masud.
It was informed in the press conference that the Barisal District Police started the investigation based on the source of the case. Using technology, the police arrested two people involved in the incident.
The arrested are Md. Faisal son of deceased Ayub Ali and Lalchan son of deceased Kalam Howladar Kalu of Madhya Katadia village of the same union.
Superintendent of Police said Rizia Begum lived alone. He disappeared about seven months ago. Rizia’s son Russell came home on April 13 and found a pile of soil inside the house. When the matter was reported to the police, they recovered Rizia’s body from inside the house on the orders of the court. Then sent to Barisal Shebachim Hospital for autopsy.
The Superintendent of Police also said that Faisal and Lalchan used to consume drugs constantly in and around the woman’s house. On the day of the incident, i.e. about seven months ago, Faisal and Lalchan killed by wrapping clothes around their necks after a planned rape. After that, they dug the soil in Rizia’s house and buried her.
He said that both Faisal and Lalchan are drug addicts. The two arrested will be handed over to the court on Sunday.
