Barisal: The police have revealed the mystery of the recovery of the body of an old woman named Rizia Parveen (60) buried inside her house in Barisal’s Bakerganj. They say that the old woman was buried after rape and murder.

Two of his son’s drug addict friends have been arrested.

Barisal District Police (SP) Superintendent Wahidul Islam gave this information through a press conference at his office on Polytechnic Road in Nagar on Sunday (April 21).

The two arrested accused are Faisal (25) son of deceased Ayub Ali of Madhya Katadia village of Bakerganj upazila and Lal Chan (32) son of deceased Kalu Howladar resident of the same village.

Rape and murder victim Rizia Parveen is the wife of deceased Zainal Gazi of Katadia village of Charamddi Union.

In the press conference, the Superintendent of Police said that during the Eid holidays, the son Russell Gazi came home and found something buried on the floor of the house without finding his mother and informed the police. On receiving the information, the police dug the ground in the presence of the executive magistrate and recovered the body of Russell Gazi’s mother.

The Superintendent of Police said that the police started investigation to solve the mystery of the murder and arrest the accused. Bakerganj Police Station and District Detective Police conducted raids with the help of RAB and arrested the two accused within three days.

Superintendent of Police said that the two killers are friends of the old lady’s son Russell. Russell and the two accused are drug addicts. They used to take drugs and gamble in the old lady’s house. Russell has a drug case against him. He left the village because of the case. But Faisal and Lalchan used to come to the house to take drugs and gamble. On September 24, 2023, Faisal and Lalchan forcibly entered the house at around 3 pm. Later Faisal with the help of his friend Lalchan raped the old woman and killed her by wrapping a cloth around her neck. After that, he buried his dead body by digging the soil of the floor of the house.

The Superintendent of Police said that even after six months of the incident, Russell did not know about the murder because he was not in touch with his mother. Had he not come home on Eid, the matter would not have been revealed. However, after the recovery of the body, Russell was also extensively interrogated. By collecting information from the locals, we came to know that six months ago, Faisal sold the household goods and left. He has no contact with his family. Based on this information, his location was identified with the help of information technology and he and Lalchan were arrested later.

He also said that in the case filed by Humayun Masood, the elder’s brother, the accused have been arrested and sent to the court.
