Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a sand-carrying truck and a passenger CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Chittagong’s Boalkhali upazila. The accident took place on Monday (April 22) around 5:30 am at the Arena Garments intersection near Raikhali Bridge on Arakan road.

The deceased are autorickshaw driver Delwar Hossain (30) and autorickshaw passenger Mizanur Rahman (32), a fishmonger. The deceased autorickshaw driver Delwar Hossain is the son of Maqbul Hossain of Kachua Berkotha village of Chandpur district. He lived in Lalkhan Bazar area of ​​Chittagong city. Fish trader Mizanur Rahman is the son of Abdus Sattar of Lalkhan Bazar area of ​​the city.

Eyewitnesses said that Mizanur Rahman was going to Gomadandi Fultal market in Boalkhali to sell fish in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw from the city’s Fishery Ghat. An auto-rickshaw collided with a sand-carrying truck in the pool area of ​​Raikhali on Arkan road. Autorickshaw driver Delwar Hossain died on the spot. The seriously injured fish trader Mizanur Rahman was taken to Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Achhab Uddin told Bangla Tribune, ‘Two people were killed in an accident in Boalkhali. The identity of the deceased has been identified. The police went to the spot and seized the truck and autorickshaw involved in the accident. But the truck driver and helper escaped.
