Mizanur Rahman (30), a fishmonger at Fisherighat in Chittagong city. In the morning, Gomdani of Boalkhali was going to Phultal market from CNGyoge city to buy fish. However, he met with an accident before reaching the spot. The CNG autorickshaw driver died on the spot. Later, when Mizanur Rahman was rescued and taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

This shocking incident took place in the morning of Monday (April 22) in front of Gate No. 3 of Arena Composite Mill near Raikhali Bridge in Shakpura Union of Upazila when a truck collided with a CNG auto rickshaw. Police said that the deceased were the driver and passenger of the autorickshaw.

They are – passenger fish merchant Mizanur Rahman (30) and autorickshaw driver Md. Delwar (30). Among them, Mizan’s house is in Lalkhan Bazar Motijharna of Chittagong city and Delwar’s house is in Chandupur district.

Sub-inspector (SI) of Boalkhali police station Noor Mohammad said that Mizanur Rahman was going to Gomdandi Phultal market of Boalkhali from Fisherighat in the city to buy fish in a CNG-powered autorickshaw. A CNG autorickshaw collided head-on with a sand-laden truck heading towards Patia from Boalkhali when it reached in front of Gate No. 3 of Arena Composite Mill.

He also said that the autorickshaw driver died on the spot. And after taking the fish trader Mizanur to the upazila health complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

On receiving information, the truck and the autorickshaw involved in the accident were seized from the spot and taken to the police station. But the truck driver escaped. Besides, the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and sent to Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) hospital morgue for post-mortem – added this police officer.
