An autorickshaw driver beat his wife to death at Rajarhat in Kurigram. In this incident, the police arrested Swami Sudhanshu, the auto driver involved in the murder, and sent him to jail. The incident took place on Sunday (April 21) at noon in the village of Dakshin Pranpati Poddarpara of Sadar Union of the upazila.
Police and locals said that Sudhanshu Roy (40), son of deceased Khoka Ram of that village, was married to Batasi Rani of Deuti area of Panchagram Union of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila 20 years ago. After the marriage, Batasi was subjected to torture by her husband and mother-in-law, Bulbuli. Batasi was physically tortured by her husband Sudhanshu the night before the incident. The next day Sunday (April 21) at noon, local residents found the body of Batasi Rani on the bed of the bedroom of Sudhanshu’s house. After informing the Rajarhat police station, the police went to the spot in the afternoon and recovered the body of Batasi Rani and prepared a report.
At that time, the police arrested Sudhanshu Roy (40) on suspicion of involvement in the murder and brought the body to the police station. The body was sent to Kurigram morgue for post-mortem. In this incident, a murder case was registered at Rajarhat police station that night.
Waheduzzaman Rana, OC investigation of Rajarhat police station, confirmed the matter and said that the killer youth was arrested and sent to Kurigram Jail on Monday.
