Husband Shahidul Islam has been accused of beating his wife and infant daughter to death with a bamboo mat in Dinajpur’s Nawabganj. Police arrested Shahidul Islam after the incident.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nawabganj upazila, Daudpur UP, Hayatpur village (Chinirchara) Paschimpara area. This incident happened at Shahidul Islam’s own house.
The detained husband Shahidul Islam (37) is the son of Sohrab Ali of Heyatpur (Chinirchara) village of Daudpur UP of Nawabganj upazila.
The mother of the housewife who was killed in the incident, Rosyna Begum, filed a case at the police station last night, alleging serious injury and murder.
The deceased are Md. Paschimpara area of Hayatpur (Chinirchara) village of Daudpur UP of Nawabganj upazila. Shahidul Islam’s wife Morjina Begum and her younger daughter Afrin Jannat (6). Apart from this, their elder son Al Amin (13) is undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital with injuries.
Confirming the matter, Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed held a press briefing on Sunday.
According to the details of the case, Shahidul Islam of Hayatpur Chinirchara village of Nawabganj is a wood worker. He regularly goes to work in the morning and returns home in the evening. As usual last Saturday he went to work and returned home before sunset. He then went to Daudpur market to repair the bicycle. While going to Daudpur market, he got bored with listening to music on his mobile phone and at one stage of the discussion about disciplining the children, he hit his wife Morjina Begum with a thick bamboo bed lying next to him. Later, when the children came, he also hit them. Then he left. After returning home from the market at around 7:30 pm, his wife Morzina Begum (32), son Al Amin (13) and daughter Afrin Jannat (6) were lying in the courtyard of the house in a bloody state. Takes the complex. There they were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment after primary treatment.
On the other hand, Shahidul Islam took his wife Morjina Begum to Daudpur Bazar by rickshaw. When Aziz was taken to him, he declared him dead. Then Shahidul took the body of his wife Morjina Begum to the house of his father Sohrab Ali in his village. After receiving the news, the police recovered the body of Morjina Begum and sent it to the morgue for post-mortem.
The investigating officer of the case, Police Inspector (Investigation) Mominuzzaman, said that Morzina Begum’s husband, the householder Shahidul Islam, was arrested in that case. According to his confession, he hit his wife and two children with a bamboo mat during an argument about disciplining the children. Two people died. The victim’s mother filed a case in this incident. The accused was sent to Dinajpur Jail on Sunday.
