A teenager named Badsha Mia was hacked to death for protesting against the molestation of a teenage girl in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. This incident happened last Saturday night in Badda village of the upazila. The police sent his body to the district headquarter hospital morgue for post-mortem on Sunday.
The deceased Badshah is the son of Abu Kalam Mia of that village. Four others were injured in the incident. Two seriously injured have been sent to Comilla and Dhaka for treatment.
Police and locals said that recently a teenage girl from Dhaka came to visit Badda’s neighbor Miad’s house in Badda village. On Saturday, the girl was on her way to the village market when she was molested by miscreants led by a local Anik. At that time, the king protested and he quarreled with the scoundrels. As a result, Anik and his associates called him from home at night and attacked the king. Later, they seriously injured him by cutting his upper body. Tarek, Mainuddin, Saiful and Jihad were seriously injured when they came to save the king. Later, the locals rescued them and took them to the hospital. Badsha died on the way.
The victim’s sister Popi Akhter filed a murder case in Nabinagar police station in the name of 21 people in this incident. The police have so far arrested four accused, namely Russell Mia, Yunus Mia, Shakeel Ahmed and Masood Mia, for their involvement in the murder.
Popi Akter said, they are three sisters and one brother. The king was due to go abroad in a few months. The scoundrels called the brother from the house and hacked him to death.
Nabinagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sirajul Islam said that Badshah was killed for harassing a girl. A case has been filed against Anik in this incident. Police have already arrested four people. Police are working to arrest the main accused Anik and others. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
