Awami League president along with brother arrested in case of attempted murder of journalist in Qutubdia

Upazila Awami League president Aurangzeb Matbar and his brother Mojahidul Islam Salim have been arrested by the police in the case of attempted murder of a journalist in Qutubdia. Multiple teams of police conducted raids in the neighborhood of Nazr Ali Matbar
Arrest them.

Police sources said that Mizanur Rahman, correspondent of Daily Bangladesh Pratidin Kutubdia, was arrested in the afternoon in a case of attempted murder for broadcasting a video of an attack on the members of a poor family in Koyarbil Malamchar of the upazila.

According to the police, they were arrested after conducting raids in Gopnazr Ali Matbar neighborhood. On Friday (April 19) afternoon, Kutubdia Upazila Awami League President Aurangzeb Matbar while gathering news about the Eid plenary meeting.
Mizanur Rahman, a journalist of Bangladesh Pratidin newspaper, was attacked by the leadership.

Journalist Mizanur Rahman said that Qutubdia Upazila Awami League President Aurangzeb Matbar, his two brothers, nephews and unknown 10/15 others attacked him on the orders of Upazila Awami League President Aurangzeb Matbar. In this incident, he filed a case at the police station on the same day.

He also said that on the same day, two more cases were registered in the police station regarding terrorist attacks on the family members of the Upazila Awami League president in separate areas.

OC of Kutubdia police station Mohammad Golam Kabir said that the president of Kutubdia Upazila Awami League Aurangzeb and his brother Mojahidul Islam Salim have been arrested and sent to jail through the court in the case of attempted murder of journalists.
