An auto rickshaw driver named Harun Chowkidar (43) died due to heat stroke in Shariatpur Sadar due to intense heat. He died in the auto rickshaw garage in front of the Zilla Parishad at around 1 pm on Sunday (21 April). Apart from this, a total of 6 people have died of heatstroke in 24 hours across the country. Among them, there are two in Phulbari of Dinajpur, one in Meherpur, one in Madhavadi of Narsingdi, one each in Jhalkathi and Sylhet.
They died at different times on Sunday (April 21). From the news sent by the representatives, these data of heatstroke deaths across the country have been confirmed.
Dinajpur
Two people died of heat stroke in Dinajpur’s Phulbari during the heat wave. They are former municipal councilor Motahar Ali (58), son of deceased Mosharof Hossain of Chaksabajpur village in the municipal area, and Billal Hossain (52), a truck driver of Rajarhat village in Jessore Kotwali police station area.

Meherpur
A housewife named Shilpi Khatun (45) died of heatstroke in Meherpur’s Gangni.
The incident took place in Ruerkandi village of Sholtaka union of the upazila.
Artist Khatun is wife of Abu Taher of Ruerkandi village and daughter of Billal Malitha of neighboring Amtail village.
Meherpur District Commissioner Shamim Hasan said, UNO and health officials have been instructed to confirm whether Shilpi Khatun’s death was due to heat stroke or not. However, the district is experiencing the highest temperature in the country. Mikeing has been done with instructions not to step out of the house unless absolutely necessary and to keep oneself healthy in the intense heat.
Narsingdi
A youth died of heat stroke in Madhavadi, Narsingdi.
He died on the way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
Safqat Jamil Iban (32) was the son of deceased Zakaria Jamil of Bhagirathpur area of Madhavadi police station of Sadar upazila and a cloth merchant in Shekerchar market.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital Dr. Mahmudul Kabir Bashar said, the family informed that Iban fainted as a result of walking in the hot sun and sweating profusely. He died before he could be brought to the hospital. Based on information provided by the family, his death initially appears to have been caused by heatstroke.
Shariatpur
An autorickshaw driver named Harun Chowkidar (43) died of heatstroke.
This incident happened in front of the district council at noon.
Harun Chowkidar is the son of Ali Hossain Chowkidar of Nayan Madbarkandi area of Moktarchar union of Naria upazila.
In this regard, the resident medical officer of Sadar Hospital. Sabikun Nahar said, I got to know from the relatives that the person named Harun suddenly fell ill due to working in excessive heat. When the patient’s relatives brought him to Sadar Hospital in an ambulance, I went to see him in the ambulance. He died before being brought to the hospital.
Jhalakathi
West Aura village of Kathalia sadar union of Kathalia upazila of Jhalkathi. A youth named Afzal Talukder (45) died of heatstroke.
Afzal’s death was confirmed by local rural doctor Dilip Chandra Hawladar as a result of heat stroke.
Sylhet
A rickshaw puller died of heatstroke in Sylhet’s South Surma. The incident took place in front of the South Surma police box at noon.
The identity of the rickshaw puller has not been confirmed yet.
