‘It’s crazy, rules are rules’: Faf du Plessis on Virat Kohli’s dismissal during KKR vs RCB match

Virat Kohli’s dismissal of the throw created a lot of controversy. The former RCB captain got out to a high full toss that hit his midriff but by the time he made contact with the ball, he was already outside the crease where it popped up. Angered by the third umpire’s decision, Kohli went back to the dressing room.

He was with Kohli when RCB captain Fife du Plessis was dismissed in the third over and opened up about his partner’s dismissal. “It’s crazy, rules are rules. Virat and I thought the ball was above waist level (at the time of Kohli’s dismissal). Notably, RCB bowler Reece Topley called the dismissal a gray area and called for more clarity on the rules. “Obviously, these measures were introduced to eliminate gray areas, and then you get something today that no one thought of,” Topley said.

He (Kohli) was obviously out of his crease, the ball was on his hip and then he was obviously out of the crease of the wicket.
