Armed terrorists attacked a house in Rupganj of Narayanganj and after vandalizing and looting, poured petrol and set it on fire. A woman named Beauty Begum (50) died in the fire. After this terrorist attack by the son of Habibur Rahman Harez, former vice chairman of Rupganj upazila and organizational secretary of upazila Awami League, Jewel and his gang, the whole area is now in fear. Rupganj police station arrested one person named Saeed involved in the incident but the others are absconding.
Beauty Begum died at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital on Monday around 11:30 pm. Resident doctor of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Tariqul Islam, said that 75 percent of his body was burnt in the fire. Earlier, Harez’s son Jewel set fire to Beauty Begum’s house in the Bhaktabari area of the upazila on the same day due to land-related issues. In this incident, a case has been registered in Rupganj police station against 30 named people and 8/10 unknown people including Habibur Rahman Harez. The case was filed by Shafiqul Islam, son of Jaher Ali of Bhaktabari. The attackers are currently threatening the plaintiff to withdraw the case.
After this demonic attack, the locals are bursting with anger. They say that the attackers should be arrested immediately.
In this regard, Rupganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Jobair Hossain said that a case has been filed in that incident. Since Beauty Begum died, the case will be treated as a murder case. An accused has been arrested. Efforts are on to arrest the rest.
According to witnesses and police sources, there was a dispute with Habibur Rahman Harez, former vice chairman of Rupganj Upazila Parishad and organizational secretary of Upazila Awami League, over 8 percent of the land owned by Jaher Ali, a land dealer in the same area. This led to a fight between the two parties on Monday morning. Habibur Rahman was with his eldest son at this time. Mateen At one stage of the quarrel, Jaher Ali had a fight with them. Belayet Hossain, son of Beauty Begum, was present there at that time. It was alleged by Harez that he took the side of Jaher Ali. Due to this, in the afternoon, another son of Harez, Jewel, attacked Beauty Begum’s house with a group. All of them had large ramadas and various indigenous weapons. They vandalized houses. Looted. At one point, he poured petrol on the door of the house and set it on fire. The fire quickly spread to the adjoining kitchen. Beauty Begum was there. His body caught fire. At that time, a frightening situation arose in that area. Shimu, a girl school teacher, rushed to save Beauty Begum’s screams. He also hesitated. Later, the people around came and took Beauty Begum and Shimu Akhtar to a private hospital in the capital. After the initial treatment at that hospital, Beauty Begum was taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. He died there that night.

Rupganj Union Parishad Chairman Salauddin Bhuiyan said that the attack was done in a demonic manner. They poured petrol and set it on fire. He said that the manner in which Rupganj Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman and Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary Habibur Rahman Harez and his sons committed murder is unforgivable. They alleged that Belayet, son of Beauty Begum, was with their opponent. I want to say about the challenge, Belayet, the son of Beauty Begum, did not say anything that day. He must be tried for why he attacked Belayat’s house and killed his mother. Whoever they belong to, the attackers must be arrested. Shafiqul Islam, the plaintiff in the case, said that he is currently in fear. The accused are threatening him to withdraw the case. If the case is not withdrawn, his house will also be set on fire. He told this matter to the investigating officer. The accused in the case are – Habibur Rahman Haresh, Zakibur Rahman Jewel, Dulal Mia, Rafiz Uddin, Md. Babu, Aminul, Mamun Mia, Md. Zainal, Yakun, Shakib, Shanta, Alamin, Md. Rifat, Md. Nasim, Md. Rifat Mia, Md. Mia, Md. Sajib, Md. Pappu, Md. Ayyun, Abdullah, Md. Ziaul Haque, Md. Saeed, Md. Chamad, Delwar Hossain, Dipu, Kabir Hossain, Md. Jewell, Md. Hiron Mia and 10 other unidentified people.
