A youth arrested in the case of robbery of easy bike after killing the driver by slitting his throat in Comilla.
Two days after he went missing, the police recovered the mutilated body of an easy bike driver from Lalmai Hill in Comilla.
Based on the information given by the youth arrested in this incident, the body was recovered from Hatigara of Kalirbazar Union of Comilla Adarsh Sadar Upazila on Monday midnight, said the OC of Barura police station. Feroz Hossain said.
The deceased easybike driver Mehedi Hasan (12) is the son of Abul Kasem of Noabari village of Banshtali village of Barura upazila of Comilla.
The detained Nazmul Hossain (25) is the son of Nazeer Mia of Magon Bari of Ilashpur village of the same union.
OC Feroz Hossain said, “On Sunday morning, Mehdi left home with his easy bike. In front of Ilashpur Chairman Market, Nazmul rented his easy bike to go to Kalir Bazar in Adarsh Sadar Upazila.
“Going to the ink market, Nazmul told the driver, there are sapling trees on the north side of the Hatigara cemetery on the nearby Lalmai Hill. Asks to go with him to get them. Being familiar, he agreed to go.
“Later, Nazmul went inside the bush and first hit Mehdi in the stomach with a knife hidden in his waist. Nazmul confirmed his death by cutting his throat when he fell on the ground. Later, he went to his in-laws’ house in Gouripur, Daudkandi with an easy bike.”
He also said that when Mehdi did not return home, his father found out that Nazmul had rented his son’s easy bike. No one has seen him since.
When Mehdi’s father complained to the Barura police station, the police arrested Nazmul from his in-laws’ house and interrogated him.
Based on the information provided by Nazmul, the police recovered Mehdi’s body from Hatigara area of Lalmai Hills at around 2 pm on Monday and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue.
Barura Police Station OC Feroze said that Nazmul was sent to court on Tuesday afternoon.
