A youth named Jasim Mia (22) was allegedly beaten to death with a bat while playing cricket in Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur. The incident took place on the evening of Tuesday (November 21) in the Madrasa field of Ashrafbad village of Chalimabad union of the upazila.
The deceased is the son of Shiron Mia of Ashrafbad village of Jasim upazila.
According to local residents, Jasim was playing cricket along with Roshan Mia’s son Eman Mia in the Ashrafabad Madrasa field. At that time, there was an argument between the two people. At one point, Eamon Mia started beating Jasim with a cricket bat in his hand. Later, the local residents took Jasim to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.
Muhammad Ali, elder brother of deceased Jasim, said that while playing cricket, Emon suddenly started beating my brother with a cricket bat. When he was injured, after being brought to the hospital, the doctor said that my brother had died. I want justice for this incident.
Rahmat Ullah Pavel, the doctor on duty at Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex, said that the young man died before being brought to the hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bancharampur Model Police Station Noore Alam said that two people had an argument over the cricket game. At one stage Eamon beat Jasim with a cricket bat. Jasim died after being brought to the hospital. Efforts are on to nab the killer Eamon.
