The police recovered the body of a young man named Sitesh Chand Gop from Ali Bahar’s tea garden in Pathantulasth of Sylhet city. The body was recovered on Tuesday (November 21) afternoon. The name of the deceased youth is Sitesh Chand Gop (45). He is the son of Rakhal Chand Gop of Ghoshpara village of Ward No. 8 of Habiganj Sadar.
Airport Police Station OC Moin Uddin Sipan confirmed the recovery of the body yesterday.
On inquiry, it is known that Sitesh Chand came to Sylhet on November 17 to admit his pregnant wife to the hospital. The next day on Saturday (November 18) her child was born. Then Sitesh Chand went missing from Sunday (November 19). He stayed in the hospital. The deceased’s elder brother Gopesh Chandra Gop filed a general diary at the Jalalabad police station on Monday afternoon.
After going to the ground, it was found that the body was missing a hand. It is believed to be eaten by foxes. Apart from this, the police recovered a knife and a blood-stained shirt from the side of Sitesh Chand Gop.
In this regard, Assistant Police Commissioner of Airport Police Station Zahirul Islam told Kalbela, “We reached the spot immediately after receiving the news and recovered the body.” Initially, it seems that it was a planned murder. Sitesh Chand Gop has stab marks on his body. We are looking at the matter as a loss. The body has been sent to Osmani Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner of Police Sadek Kawshar Dastgir, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Airport Zone) Zahirul Islam, Airport Police Station OC Moin Uddin and other police officials immediately came to the spot after receiving the news of the incident.
