To participate in Narsingdi-3 (Shibpur) Constituency in the upcoming 12th National Assembly Election, the current Member of Parliament of that Constituency Zahirul Haque Bhuya Mohan has collected the party nomination form of Awami League. However, a picture of him holding the nomination form has gone viral on social media. In that picture, it is seen that Shakil, the accused in Shibpur upazila chairman and upazila Awami League president Harun Or Rashid Khan murder case, is standing behind MP Mohan.
Member of Parliament Mohan has denied buying the nomination form along with the accused in the murder case. He said, ‘My brother collected the nomination form. After I went to the stadium area, local activists took pictures with me. I don’t know how accused Shakeel was standing behind me at that time. After the matter came to attention, I asked the activists to be careful.
Upazila Chairman Haroon Or Rashid’s murder accused Shakeel (35). The police are yet to arrest five people including the main accused Arif and killer Mubarak in this sensational case.
Fazle Rabbi Khan, the nephew of the deceased Harun Aur Rashid, who is seeking nomination from Awami League, said that since the murder, the people of Shibpur have been saying that MP Mohan and his brother Juno are somehow involved in the murder. The people of Shivpur demand that the law and order forces should unmask those involved in this murder, no matter how influential they are.
Inspector (OC) of Shibpur police station Feroz Talukder said, ‘Shakil was arrested in that case. He is accused number 4. He is currently on bail. Five other accused, including the main accused Arif, have not been arrested yet as they fled to Dubai.’
Member of Parliament elected from Narsingdi-3 and candidate for nomination from Awami League in the 12th National Parliament Election, Zahirul Haque Bhuya Mohan expressed his sorrow and said, ‘I am really ashamed of this incident. I did not notice how he stood behind me in the crowd. I smell a conspiracy about who suddenly took the picture again.’
Harunur Rashid Khan, former upazila chairman of Shibpur and president of upazila Awami League, was shot dead at his home on February 25. Later, he died in a hospital in Dhaka on May 31 while undergoing treatment in the country and abroad.
