A youth named Jasim Mia (22) was allegedly beaten to death with a cricket bat while playing cricket in Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur. The incident took place on Tuesday evening at the Ashrafabad Madrasa ground. The house of the deceased is in Ashrafbad village of the upazila. Father’s name is Shiron Mia.
According to local sources, some people along with Roshan Mia’s son Eman Mia of the same village Jasim were playing cricket in the Ashrafbad Madrasa field of Chalimabad Union of the upazila. At one point Eamon Mia hit Jasim with the cricket bat in his hand. Once Jasim fell to the ground. Later, he was taken to the upazila health complex by the local residents in a critical condition and the doctor on duty declared him dead. The deceased Jasim has a 2-year-old son. After a few days he was supposed to go abroad.
Muhammad Ali, the elder brother of deceased Jasim, said that while playing cricket, Emon suddenly started beating my brother with a cricket bat. When he was seriously injured, after being brought to the hospital, the doctor said that my brother had died. I want it to be tried hard.
Ripon, nephew of the deceased Jasim, said that while we were playing cricket, my uncle was attacked without any reason and beaten with a cricket bat.
Dr. Rahmatullah Pavel, the doctor on duty at the hospital, said that Jasim died before being brought to the hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Bancharampur Model Police Station Noore Alam said that Eman beat Jasim with a cricket bat at one stage of the conversation between the two regarding the game of cricket. The doctor declared him dead when he was brought to the hospital. Our operation is on to catch Eamon.
