An auto driver named Siddique (45) died in a head-on collision between a passenger auto and a truck at Sapahar in Naogaon.
The incident took place on Tuesday (November 21) around 3 pm at Godown Para intersection of Sapahar Upazila. The deceased charger driver Siddique is the son of deceased Abdus Samad of Bangram Chak Raghu village of Patnitala upazila.
According to eyewitness sources, on that day Siddique, an auto driver from Sapahar Women’s Degree College, was going home to the village with his college student daughter Ayesha along with her daughter’s classmates Neetu, Sumaiya and Meshkat Jahan. On the road, when their auto reached the Godownpara junction, it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
At that time, all the four college students including the auto driver fell on the road and got seriously injured. The auto lurches. Immediately, fire service civil defense members rescued the injured and brought them to the local upazila health complex.
At that time, the doctor on duty declared the charger driver Siddique dead and admitted the four injured college girls to the hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment there.
Even though the killer truck driver was absconding, the police reached the spot and seized the truck and took it into police custody. No one has come to the police station to file a case in this regard and no case has been filed, said Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
