Shamim Ahmed ::: Unidentified terrorists on four motorcycles attacked a municipal councilor and seriously injured him in Phalpatti area of Barisal city on Tuesday afternoon. At one point, when the councilor was trying to be kidnapped, the locals came forward and attacked the terrorists on his screams. At that time, the terrorists fled leaving behind two motorcycles. At one stage, the locals chased one of the terrorists and handed him over to the police.
Md. Al-Amin Hawladar, councilor of Ward No. 3 of Gournadi Municipality and former general secretary of Gournadi Municipal Jubo League, was injured in the terrorist attack.
The injured councilor said that after completing urgent work in Barisal city, he went to eat at a rice hotel in Phalpatti area at noon. At that time, 8/10 unidentified terrorists surrounded him with four motorcycles and attacked him frantically. At one point, he started shouting as the terrorists took him on a motorcycle to forcefully abduct him. Later local people came forward and chased the terrorists. Unable to find a way out, the terrorists left the two motorcycles and fled. At that time, the locals chased one of the terrorists and handed him over to the Kotyali Model Police Station.
Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident. Kotyali Model Police Station OC Md. Anwar Hossain said that the entire incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
It should be noted that Jubo League leader and municipal councilor Al-Amin Hawladar has been in conflict for a long time with an influential leader of Gourandi Upazila of his party.
