Superintendent of Police Md. Saidul Islam PPM-BPM said that sometime between November 5 and November 19, unknown thieves entered the residence of Assistant Customs Officer AKM Kabir Uddin (72) in the Arambagh area of ​​the city by breaking the back door and broke the steel cupboard and took the licensed pistol and shotgun. A large amount of goods kept in the same house was stolen which created a lot of excitement in the area. A smart team of the district police visited the spot and collected various information, data, signs and tried to unravel the main mystery of the incident. Later, with the help of information technology and the direction of the Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. A police team led by Sajedul Islam Sajal conducted a night-long operation and the police managed to arrest the two-time thief Md. Moniruzzaman (44) along with stolen weapons and goods from Arambagh area. The weapons recovered are-

One 12 Bore Short Gun (SBBL), Bearing No-3825, Made-in-Belgium, License Serial No-2/1389, One .25 Bore NPP Pistol, Bearing No-88573, Made-in-Germany, License No-Patua-242 , 01 rounds of .25 bore NPP pistol bullets, 41 rounds of 12 bore short gun (SBBL) cartridges, an iron made river bar resembling toy revolver with an old plastic handle, a red wheeled trolley bag, an old black colored luggage, a Old black briefcase, one black big bag, one black hand bag, 30 old sarees of different brands, 2 big blankets, kanthas of different colors – 5, mosquito nets – 1, Chandina – 2, burkas – 3, bed sheets – 4, Shawl sheet-1, towel-2, 02 water heater. Shabal, hammer, pliers, cutting pliers, 1 torch light, 1 sewing wrench, 2 iron chisels used in this theft.

Superintendent of Police said that after analyzing the CC camera footage installed by the municipality, the police were able to arrest and recover the stolen weapons and goods on Monday night. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing.

It is to be noted that the plaintiff retired customs officer AKM Kabir Uddin went to Dhaka with his wife Nasreen Sultana to see a doctor on November 5 at 4 pm. He kept his house locked as no one was home. On this occasion, Munna, a thief from the same area, committed this incident on the night of November 18.

In the interrogation, accused Munna also said that he was previously involved in various professions including carpenter work. Currently, he works as a day-guard in an educational institution as a master roll.

A case was registered in this regard at Patuakhali Sadar Police Station on November 20. Case No-21, Section-457/380 Penal Code has been registered and the arrested accused has been sent to the learned court and the proceedings are ongoing. If anyone else is involved in the incident, efforts are underway to arrest them and bring them under the law, said the Superintendent of Police.
