In Madaripur’s Shibchar, one more person died after being beaten up by a suspected easybike thief. His name is Hasmat Ali Bepari (50). He was brought to the Madaripur 250-bed district hospital at around two o’clock on Tuesday, where the doctor declared him dead. Earlier, a person named Mirjan Khalasi (43) who was injured in the same incident died on Monday night. Two people were beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief.

Meanwhile, the police also arrested two members of the thief gang. They are Mustafa Kamal (50), son of deceased Syed Ali of Kashipur area of ​​Kalkini upazila of Madaripur and Sagar Howlader (42), son of deceased Faku Howlader of Lebukhali area of ​​Dumki upazila of Patuakhali.

The deceased Hasmat Hasmat Ali Bepari is the son of Ratan Bepari of Shirchar area of ​​Sadar Upazila. Deceased Mirjan Khalasi is the son of deceased Abu Ali Khalasi of Sumbhuk area of ​​Banshkandi Union of Shivchar. The police say that the two who were killed in the beating are members of a gang of thieves. They were involved in robberies, thefts and robberies.

The police said that a case will be filed after the investigation of the two deaths in Pituni. Two more people involved in the gang have been arrested.

According to the police and local sources, a gang of five people went to the house of Halim Fakir in Sumbuk area around midnight yesterday to steal an easy bike. At that time, the people of the house woke up when they screamed and screamed. The gang of thieves hides in a bush next to the house. On the news that ‘robbers have fallen’ in the area, the locals came out and chased the gang members. At that time, the other three members of the gang escaped, but at around 3:30 in the night, Mirjan and Hasmat were arrested and beaten up by the agitated mob. Mirjan died on the spot. On receiving the information, the police rescued the injured and took them to the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. As Hasmat’s condition is critical, he was taken to Madaripur 250-bed district hospital around 2 pm today for better treatment. At that time, the doctor on duty there declared him dead.

While undergoing treatment at Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, Hasmat Ali Bepari told reporters at around seven in the morning that they went to Charchallenama area to steal an easy bike and were beaten up by the locals. Later they were rescued by the police and admitted to the hospital.

Madaripur 250 bed district hospital medical officer Rashedul Islam Chowdhury said that a person who was beaten up on suspicion of robbery was brought to the hospital. It is found that he is dead. His body has been kept in the morgue for post-mortem.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Police Station Subrata Goldar told Prothom Alo that a case will be filed after the investigation into the two deaths in Pituni and legal action will be taken against the criminals. Two more people involved in the gang have been arrested.
