Madaripur: A person named Mirjan Khalasi (43) has died in a gang thrashing on suspicion of dacoity in Shibchar of Madaripur district. Three others were injured at this time.
The incident took place on Monday (November 20) at around 2:30 am in Chalenama area of Banshkandi Union of the upazila.
The deceased Mirjan Khalasi is the son of deceased Abu Ali Khalasi of Sambhuk area of Shibchar upazila. Among the injured, one named Achmat Ali Bepari (45) has been admitted to Dhaka Medical Center in critical condition. Achmat is the son of Rattan Bepari of Lakshmipur area of Shirchar union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. Two others have been given first aid and kept in police custody.
Meanwhile, Sagar Hawladar (28) and Mustafa Kamal (65) were handed over to the police on Tuesday (November 21) morning for suspicious behavior.
According to police and local sources, a group of five robbers attacked the house of former Secretary Abdul Hakim’s brother Abdul Hakim in Bajitpur area of Banshkandi Union of Shibchar Upazila in the midnight on Monday (November 20). At that time, when the people of the house started screaming and shouting, the bandits ran away from that house. Later, the van driver of the nearby area went to the house of Delwar Hauladar and called a tenant named Tushar. When he opened the door without realizing it, he was held hostage in the face of a sharp weapon. Later, the robbers called the people of the neighboring house. As soon as the house owner of the next house came out, he cut and injured him with a sharp weapon and looted goods worth lakhs of rupees. When they fled after the robbery, the locals chased Mirjan and Achmat Ali Bepari and beat them up.
After getting the information, a team of police including Shibchar Thana Deputy Inspector (SI) Golzar Hossain visited the spot and rescued two injured persons.
Lata Begum, the wife of the victim Delwar Howladar, said that the robbers kept the tenant of the neighboring house hostage and asked us to open the door of our house. Later, when the door was opened, he beat my husband and ran away with gold ornaments, mobile phone and money. ‘
Shibchar Upazila Health Complex medical officer Dr. Mainul Islam said, the police came to the hospital with two patients around 5:30 am. One of them was found dead.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sibchar Police Station Gulzar Alam said, “We visited the spot after receiving the information and rescued two people in critical condition and took them to the hospital. One of them died. Another person has been sent to Dhaka in critical condition. Two more people were arrested with the help of locals in the morning.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Police Station Subrata Goldar said, there is a police team at the spot. Necessary action will be taken after the investigation.
