A Chhatra League worker named Arif Ahmed was hacked to death in Sylhet. Police arrested two people in this incident.

The miscreants hacked and injured Arif on Gowali Rhama Walkway in the TV Gate area of ​​the city yesterday at around 12 o’clock on Monday night. Later, he was rescued and taken to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in Sylhet, where he died at around 1.30 am.

It is known that Arif is a worker of Sylhet Government College Chhatra League. He is a follower of Sylhet District Chhatra League President Nazmul Hossain.

Arif’s mother Ankhi Begum said that on November 15, Arif was attacked due to a dispute with former District Chhatra League President and City Councilor Hiran Mahmdu Nipur. In this incident, he filed a complaint against 10-12 unknown people including 6 names at Shahparan (Rh.) police station on Monday night.

Arif’s mother claims that Arif was hacked to death by a group of 10 to 15 people in the presence of Councilor Nipur.

Deputy Police Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Azbahar Ali Sheikh said, ‘Arif was taken to Osmani Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition and died there. This happened because of previous enmity. Two people have been arrested in this incident.’

However, this police officer said that he had not received any complaints about previous attacks.
