BiswaBangla Trade Conference is starting today Tuesday at BiswaBangla International Convention Center in Rajarhat to attract investment in the state. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the ceremony at around 3 pm on this day. On that occasion, famous industrialists from home and abroad will set foot in the city. The state government is ready to present West Bengal as an industry-friendly state in front of them.

According to Nabanna sources, the Chief Minister is going to announce a new incentive scheme at the trade conference so that industrialists are interested in investing in the state. As a result, investors will get additional facilities for setting up industries in West Bengal. The hope of the officials of the industry department, this time investment of lakhs of crores of rupees is going to come from the trade conference. The government is eyeing several sectors to attract new investment. These include small and medium industries, agriculture and food processing, tourism, textiles-engineering, real estate, information technology and higher education.

In a statement on Monday, CII informed that a total of 26 MoUs will be signed in the field of health services at this year’s World Trade Conference. A total investment of Rs 7,500 crore can come from it. There will be 59 MOUs signed in the field of education. 1,600 crore and 3,000 crore rupees are likely to be invested in the state in secondary and higher education respectively. As many as 15 MoUs are expected to be signed in the MSME sector. Several agreements regarding technical arrangements will be signed between various educational institutions and organizations like Jadavpur University, MSME Toolroom, Fujisoft.

According to sources in the Industries Department, several foreign companies have expressed interest in investing in the state in agriculture and food processing, tourism, education, health and garment industries. A few months ago, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Spain and Dubai. Responding to his call, large trade delegations from Spain and Dubai are coming to attend the World Bangla Trade Conference. The UAE government is also sending delegates. A delegation of 50 people is coming from Britain. Also hundreds of delegates from Germany, Italy, Japan, France, South Korea, Poland, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal will join this trade conference. Local industrial firms will have commercial agreements with foreign companies.

The BiswaBangla International Trade Conference is being held for the seventh time after the Trinamool government came to power. Until now, all events were held at the BiswaBangla Convention Center in Rajarhat. Now two more new places are being added to it. One of them is Biswa Bangla Mela premises and the second one is Dhandhanya Auditorium in Alipore. While the opening ceremony of the industry conference will be held at the Vishwabangla Convention Center, all B2B meetings will be held at the Vishwabangla Mela premises adjacent to Science City.

The Chief Minister will officially inaugurate the annex building of Vishwabangla Convention Center before the trade conference begins. After that, the industrial conference will begin. Several domestic and foreign delegates will be present in this two-day industrial conference. Almost all the leading industrialists of the country are on the list of invitees. Among them are Reliance Group CEO Mukesh Ambani, Adani Group CEO Gautam Adani, Hiranandani Group CEO Niranjan Hiranandani, ITC Chairman Sanjeev Puri, JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, Chatterjee Group Chairman Purnendu Chatterjee, Titagarh Wagons CEO Umesh Chowdhury and Ambuja Neotia Group. Renowned industrialists like Chairman Harshvardhan Neotia.

Shiv Siddhant Kaul, Eastern Chairman of CII, said, ‘There has been huge development in Bengal. The state’s economic performance is one of the best in India. The market in Bengal is huge and has a lot of potential.’ CII West Bengal State Council Chairperson and Aquil Managing Partner Sucharita Basu said, ‘CII is working with all government departments to ensure overall development highlighting the state’s MSME sector.’
