Dhaka-North Bengal railway communication is cut off The Daily Star Bangla

The Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express train leaving Rangpur derailed.

The incident took place in Bethair Tarabari area near Gharinda railway station in Tangail at around 4:57 am on Tuesday morning.

Rezaul Karim, in-charge of Bangabandhu Setu East Railway Station, told The Daily Star, “The Rangpur Express train took a break at Bangabandhu East Railway Station and left for Dhaka early in the morning. On the way near Tangail railway station, the baggage compartment suddenly derailed beside the engine of the train. As a result, rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal is closed.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tangail Railway Police. Akbar said that the matter was immediately reported to the railway authorities. A rescue team will reach the spot soon.

According to railway sources, the rescue train left Dhaka at 9 am. Apart from this, passengers of the derailed train left for Dhaka in a commuter train.
