Chhatra League worker hacked to death in Baluchar, Sylhet
Personal Correspondent: Miscreants hacked a Chhatra League worker to death at Baluchar in Sylhet city. The incident took place on Monday (November 20) at around 12:00 PM in the Baluchar TV Gate area of the city.
The deceased Chhatra League activist Arif (19) is the son of Phatik Mia of TV Gate area of the city.
According to local sources, there was a dispute between the two factions of the Chhatra League in Baluchar of the city for quite some time. As a result of this, Arif was hacked to pieces at around 12 o’clock in the night by the miscreants. Later, with the help of locals, he was rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Hospital, where he died around 1.30 am while undergoing treatment.
The deceased Arif is said to be an active worker of Chhatra League Sylhet district committee president Nazmul Islam group.
Sylhet Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Mahmud said that an injured person died in the ICU of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College at around 1.30 am.
He also said that since the incident happened in the area under Shahparan police station, we have informed them about it. They will take further action in view of the incident.
Meanwhile, District Chhatra League President Nazmul Islam, General Secretary Rahel Siraj, Metropolitan Chhatra League President Kishwar Jahan Sourav and General Secretary Naeem Ahmad rushed to the hospital to see the deceased Arif.
Chhatra League president Nazmul Islam told the media that the deceased Arif is a 12th class student of Sylhet Government College and an active worker of Chhatra League. Four or five days ago Arif was attacked by some identified terrorists of the area. Yesterday afternoon, Arif filed a complaint at Shahparan police station in the city. He was attacked while returning from there.
Nazmul Islam said that the district and metropolitan Chhatra League will organize a program in this incident.
