The ‘Walton-DRU Media Cricket Tournament-2023’ started on Monday (November 20) organized by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

This matter must be taken care of.’ He expressed his desire to visit and award meritorious journalists abroad.
DRU President Mursalin Nomani presided over the event as the special guest was Robiul Islam Milton, Deputy Executive Director of Walton, the sponsoring organization. Sports Secretary of DRU. Mainul Hasan Sohel, general secretary of the organization, gave a speech on the occasion moderated by Mahbubur Rahman.

Kale Kantha vs Our Economy: Kale Kantha kicks off Media DRU Cricket Tournament with a win. They beat our economy by 2 runs. Kal Kantha won the toss and batted first, losing 2 wickets and scoring 79 runs in the stipulated 6 overs. Rahenur Islam scored maximum 45 runs. Batting to win, our economy stopped at 77 runs. Rahenur Islam of Kal Kantha became the man of the match.
News 24 vs Naya Diganta: News 24 started the media tournament with a win. They beat Naya Diganta by 10 wickets. After losing the toss and batting first, Naya Digant lost 4 wickets and scored 128 runs in 6 overs. Monirul Islam Rohan scored maximum 48 runs for the team. Batting for a target of 129 runs, Shaun’s unbeaten 79 runs put News 24 on the verge of victory. News 24’s Shawn was Man of the Match. Shaun also took 1 wicket in bowling.
GTV vs Timelight: GTV started the tournament with a win. After winning the toss and batting first, GTV lost 3 wickets and scored 116 runs in the allotted 6 overs. Mainul scored maximum 52 runs for the team. The light innings of the time stopped at 89 runs when he went to bat with a target of 117 runs. GTV won the match by 27 runs. GTV’s Mainul Islam won the man of the match award by scoring fifty.

Face off Business Post Morning call: Business Post starts the tournament with a win. After winning the toss and batting first, he scored 94 runs in the allotted overs. Arifur Rahman Tuhin of the winning team won the Man of the Match award by scoring 34 unbeaten runs and 1 wicket.

In the 10th match of the day, Jamuna TV and Rising BD were supposed to face each other, but as Jamuna TV did not come to the field, Rising BD got a walkover and advanced to the second round.
Observer vs NewAge: NewAge won the toss and batted first, scoring 98 for 2 in the allotted overs. Faiz scored the maximum 29 runs. In response, the Observer finished the scheduled over with 98 runs for 4 wickets. As a result, the game goes to super over. NewAge advanced to the next round by defeating the Observer in the Super Over.
In the 12th match of the day Manavkantha was scheduled to face Dhaka Post but Manavkantha did not come to the field. As a result, Dhaka Post got a walkover and advanced to the second round.
Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BFA) is providing medical support for this event. The opening ceremony was attended by the president of BFA. Anwar Hossain and General Secretary M Shakhawat Hossain. This time maximum 55 media workers are participating in this tournament.
