Motorcycle driver Jasim Mollah (26) was killed and his wife and four-year-old daughter were injured when a truck ran over them in Gopalganj. The accident took place at Chechanikandi in Gopalganj suburb of Dhaka-Khulna highway today, Monday (November 20).
Jasim Molla, a businessman, was killed by a speeding truck on his way from Ghoshgati village of Sadar upazila to his in-laws’ home in Ulpur of Sadar upazila with his wife and children. He is the son of Taru Molla of Ghoshgati village of Sadar Upazila.
Station Officer of Fire Service Rajib Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Jasim Molla was going to Ulpur of Shashurbari Sadar Upazila with his wife Afsana Begum (22) and four-year-old daughter Riya Moni on a motorcycle from their village Ghoshgati. At the spot, a speeding cement truck coming from the same direction rammed their motorcycle. Jasim Mollah was killed on the spot and his wife Afsana Begum and daughter Riya Moni were seriously injured. The injured were rescued and taken to the General Hospital. Police intercepted the truck but the driver and helper escaped.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Bhatiapara Highway Police of Kashiani Upazila Sirajul Islam said that the injured mother and daughter have been admitted to the General Hospital. Jasim’s dead body has been kept in the hospital morgue. A case is being prepared against the truck driver.
