A car worth crores of rupees was destroyed in a fire in a garage in Chittagong. Twenty CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, five motorcycles and one rickshaw were burnt. The police believe that the fire may have occurred due to an electric short circuit. The accident took place in the garage owned by Jahangir Alam in Eidga Boubazar area of Halishahar police station on Sunday around 2:30 am. According to fire service and police sources, two units of the fire service went to the spot after receiving the report of the fire after 2 am. The fire service members brought the fire under control around 3:30 pm after an effort of about one and a half hours. In Lalmonirhat Hatibandha, miscreants burnt 7 bigha of rice of farmer’s land. It is known that a few days ago, the farmer Rafiqul Islam cut the paddy of 7 bigha land and brought it to the courtyard of the house. But miscreants set fire to the paddy pile late at night. The affected farmers claim that there has been a loss of around 3 lakh rupees. The accident took place in Dalalpara village of Fakirpara union of the upazila. Cowshed with 5 cattle burnt to ashes due to electrical short-circuit fire in Kushtia sheep farm. The accident took place on Sunday night at the house of Fazlu Molla, son of Samad Molla of Farakpur, Bheramara municipality. It is said that there has been a loss of around 6 lakh rupees. A business establishment and 3 autorickshaws were burnt in Faridganj of Chandpur. The accident took place on Sunday night in the Patwari market of Balithuba East Union of the upazila.
The immediate neighbors and members of the fire service came and brought the fire under control, but by then everything was burnt. The families of affected businessman Mustafa and autorickshaw driver Yachin are helpless now. Auto rickshaw driver Yashin said, my family of 5 members lived only on the income of auto rickshaw. I am helpless now due to loss of auto rickshaw. Four shops, a residence and two motorcycles were gutted in the fire at Jurachari in Rangamati. The accident took place in Samirabazar of Sadar Union of the upazila on Monday morning. Locals were initially told that the fire started from a tea shop in the market. Upazila Chairman Suresh Kanti Chakma, executive officer. Rahmat Ullah, Vice Chairman Riton Chakma, Jurachari Union Parishad Chairman Emon Chakma visited the spot.
