Calcutta: The B.Ed University has released sensational information regarding the cancellation of approval of 253 B.E.D colleges. Vice-Chancellor Soma Banerjee brought that sensational information to the public by holding a press conference on Monday. He said, “Minister of State for Education Satyajit Burman wrote a letter alleging that there is a gap in the infrastructure of the BE College. I sent the letter to the registrar and informed him that necessary action will be taken in this regard.”

And immediately the question arose, why did he make this letter public? However, he said, “We have received complaints from several public representatives, various teachers and officials of several universities who have complained about the infrastructure of the BE College. After receiving those complaints, we started the process of investigation.”

However, not only the letter given by the Minister of State for Education Satyajit Burman, he also brought the letter sent by the Registrar of Burdwan University to the public by holding a press conference on Monday. In the letter sent to the Burdwan University Registrar, the Vice-Chancellor also disclosed detailed information about the complaints made to the NCTE about the infrastructure of the BEd colleges. Vice-Chancellor Soma Banerjee said on Monday, “Even though the university registrar sent this letter to NCTE, a copy was sent to us.” Interim Vice-Chancellor of the University Soma Banerjee said in a press conference on Monday, “A letter has been sent to the Secretary of the Higher Education Department informing about the cancellation of the approval of the private BED colleges if they do not follow the rules.

A letter has been sent to the Secretary of Higher Education Department on 3rd August. A decision in this regard was also taken in the meeting of the University Council on June 30. A copy of the resolution of that decision has been sent to the Higher Education Department.” Since then, a fresh agitation has started centered around the cancellation of approval of 253 private BE colleges. Incidentally, there are a total of 624 BE colleges in the state. Out of which the approval of 253 BE colleges has been canceled for the current academic year due to lack of proper infrastructure. However, the vice-chancellor of the university said that next year they have an opportunity to get fresh approval for student admission.
