Own Correspondent, Mahadevpur: The murderer Mozam Ali (55) was not saved after being hacked to death with a knife in the afternoon in Mahadevpur, Naogaon. The police arrested him within 60 hours of the incident.

It was informed through a press release that the arrested accused Mojam was sent to jail by the court on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested Mozam Ali is the son of Azim Uddin of Chakgobind village of Upazila Sadar.

According to the source of the case, the son of Sanaullah of the same village stabbed Abdus Salam in the back with a knife on the paved road of Chakgobind village at around 1 pm on November 11 due to a previous enmity and land dispute.

Locals rescued him in a bloody state and took him to Mahadevpur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mahadevpur police station. Mozaffar Hossain said that when the victim’s son Sumon filed a case with the police station as a plaintiff, the police took action to uncover the mystery of the case and arrest the accused. After only 60 hours, accused No. 1 of Ejahar, Mozam Ali, involved in the incident, was arrested from Enayetpur UP area on Monday evening.

He said he disguised himself as a beggar to avoid arrest. During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder. He also said that the blood-stained knife used in the murder has been recovered.
