Two people, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents in Jhalkathi. Two accidents took place in Nalchiti and Rajapur upazilas last Monday night and Tuesday (November 14) morning.

The deceased are Hasan Akon (30), son of Golam Sarwar Akon of Amragachia area of ​​Mathbaria upazila, a betel trader and Md. of Bara Kaivartkhali area of ​​Rajapur upazila. Lakhi Begum (42), wife of Mustafa Sikder.

Inspector (Investigation) Manoranjan Mistry of Nalchiti Police Station said that Akon was going to Dhaka with betel nuts from Mathbaria in a pickup. The vehicle lost control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road when it reached the Khan Market area of ​​Bhairavapasha Union in Nalchiti on the Barisal-Khulna Regional Highway on Monday around 1.30 am. Akon died on the spot. On receiving the information, police and fire service personnel went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Jhalkathi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. This police officer also said that legal action will be taken in this regard.

Meanwhile, a Lakhi Begum woman died in a road accident in front of shelter project number 4 in the cooperative area of ​​the upazila around 8:30 am today. Shamim Sikder, son of the deceased housewife, said that his mother was walking to her husband’s house from Dakshin Rajapur area in the morning. He died on the spot when a pickup carrying fish crushed him.

Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Ataur Rahman said, ‘Further legal action will be taken after talking to the family of the deceased.’
