An allegation has been made against her husband and in-laws for killing a housewife named Najma Akhter (30) in Machkandi village of Payarpur Union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. This murder happened on Sunday (November 12) evening.
In this incident, a complaint has been filed against 6 people including Najma’s husband Mustafa Munshi who was killed at Madaripur Sadar police station on Monday (November 13). Meanwhile, the people of Najma’s father-in-law’s house are absconding after the incident.
According to the police station and local sources, Mustafa Munsi (35) of Machkandi village of Payarpur Union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila was married to Najma Akter of Dudhkhali village ten years ago.
Ever since the marriage, there was turmoil in the family over the dowry money. A court case was also filed a few years ago due to unrest. After thinking about the child, Najma withdrew the case and started the family again. Even then, the turmoil in the family did not subside. Najma was tortured extensively on Sunday. Later, when he became seriously ill, he was admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital. Later the doctor on duty declared him dead. The victim’s family alleged that Najma was killed because of dowry.
Najma’s mother Tahmina Begum said, “My daughter has been killed.” I want justice. However, since the incident, accused Mustafa and his family members are absconding.
Resident Medical Officer of Madaripur Sadar Hospital Dr. Nurul Islam said that the post-mortem examination of the body has been done. How he died will be known after receiving the report.
Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salauddin Ahmed said, a written complaint has been received in this incident. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
