BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon has been granted a one-day remand in the Narsingdi Chhatra Dal leader murder case. Judge Mehdi Hasan of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Narsingdi gave this order on Tuesday (November 14) at noon.

Officer-in-charge of Narsingdi District Intelligence Branch, Khokon Chandra Sarkar, said that the learned court granted a one-day remand when the court asked for a 6-day remand.

It is known that on May 25, the expelled leaders of Chhatra Dal took out a protest march with hundreds of motorcycles in Narsingdi city. After the procession came in front of the temporary office of district BNP in Chinishpur, former joint convener of District Chhatra Dal Sadekur Rahman Sadek and his associate Ashraful Haque were injured by miscreants. Later Sadekur Rahman rescued them and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Ashraful Haque died the next day while undergoing treatment.

Altaf Hossain, the brother of Sadek, who was killed in the incident, filed a murder case in the name of Khairul Kabir Khokon, his wife Shirin Sultana and 30 members of the district BNP at Narsingdi Model Police Station. In that case, Khokon obtained six weeks anticipatory bail from the High Court.

His bail expired on July 27. In view of this, the District Intelligence Police arrested Khairul Kabir Khokon from Dhaka on October 10 and handed him over to the court.
