Munshiganj, 12 November 2023, own representative (My Bikrampur)
In the peace and development rally organized in support of Munshiganj-3 Constituency Member of Parliament Mrinal Kanti Das, there was a fight between supporters of Municipal Councilor Maqbul Hossain and Jubo League leader Zahid Hasan.
Meanwhile, young Mohammad Sajal (22) was seriously injured by the sharp weapon. Another youth Mohammad Rubel (36) received first aid from Munshiganj General Hospital. Both of them are said to be supporters of Jubo League leader UP member Zahid Hasan.
The incident took place in front of the Ankurit War 1971 sculpture in the supermarket of the city at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said that in the afternoon, the BNP anarchy protest and peace and development rally under the banner of 7 allied organizations including Sechchaseb League, Jubo League, Chhatra League was going on in the road adjacent to Muktijudda Complex in the city. The chief guest was Munshiganj-3 Constituent Member of Parliament Ed. Mrinal Kanti Das.
While the speech was going on, the supporters of Muqbul Hossain, the general secretary of the city Secchaseb League, and Zahid Hasan, the president of the Panchsar Union Jubo League, got into a fight in front of the War 1971 statue in the supermarket. At that time, opponents seriously injured Sajal, a supporter of Zahid, by cutting him in different parts of his body. Another worker named Rubel was injured. Later the leaders and activists present rescued the injured Sajal and took him to Munshiganj General Hospital and the doctor on duty referred him to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, fights and throwing of chairs continued between the workers at the gathering place for quite some time. Later, other activists removed them.
Munshiganj City Volunteer League General Secretary and Municipal Councilor Maqbul Hossain said that there was a commotion and a fight. But it is not sure who and why they fought. I was in front of the gathering place, did not see the fighters. I learned that one person was cut and injured.
Panchsar Union Jubo League President Zahid Hasan said that three of his workers were injured including one seriously injured in the incident. Basically this happens around sitting on a chair.
Munshiganj General Hospital emergency department doctor Ruhul Amin said that two people came to the hospital with injuries. Meanwhile, Sajal’s condition was critical, with sharp weapon injuries on his head, back and legs. After stopping the bleeding from here, he was referred to Dhaka Medical for better treatment. The other injured Rubel was sent home with first aid.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Munshiganj Sadar Police Station Aminul Islam said that there was a stabbing incident between two factions. No party has yet filed a complaint with the police. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
When asked about these matters, Mrinal Kanti Das, Member of Parliament of Munshiganj-3 Constituency, said, I do not know anything about this.
