The police recovered the injured body of a businessman after breaking the lock of his house in Ghazaria upazila of Munshiganj.

OC Molla Soheb Ali of Ghazaria police station said that the body was found in Abdullahpur village near Bhaberchar bus stand of the upazila at 12:30 noon on Sunday.

Deceased Rahaful Khan (22) is the son of Zahid Hossain of Charpathalia village of Bhaberchar union. He lived in a rented house in Abdullahpur village.

Rafaful’s elder brother Hriday Khan said, Rahaful has a shop called ‘New Nawabpur Electric’ on the second floor of the bus stand’s Baushia Bhumukhi Uyanan Samity Market. On the 1st of this month, he rented a room in the half-baked house of Wazed Ali in that area next to his shop as he was late in returning home at night.

He further said, “He was last spoken to on Saturday morning. Since then his mobile number has been switched off. After seeing the store closed on Sunday morning, I went to his rented house at noon. I went there and smelled bad smell from outside the room.

“However, I saw the door of the house locked from the outside and informed the police. After breaking the lock and entering the room, the police found Rahaful’s mutilated body lying on the sofa.”

OC Molla Soheb Ali said, the body was recovered and sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

“Preliminarily, it is believed that he was hacked to death with a sharp weapon sometime on Saturday night.”

The investigation is ongoing; The OC said that the real cause of death will be known when the post-mortem report is received.
