The police recovered the bodies of 2 people, including an honors student, in Rangpur’s Mithapukur. Police are working to unravel the mystery of two separate incidents. Two dead bodies were recovered from Rupasi Damua and Baldipukur bus stand areas of the upazila on Sunday (November 12) afternoon.
According to the deceased’s family, police and local sources, Honors student Safin Mia, son of Sekander Ali of Rupsi Bekipara village of Khoragach union of the upazila, left the house on Saturday afternoon and did not return. Next Sunday morning, a farmer found Safin’s body hanging from a mango tree on the bank of a pond in Damua area near the house. People nearby rushed to his scream and informed the police. Mithapukur police reached the spot at noon and recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for post mortem. The miscreants killed him and hung him from a tree, the family claims. Locals Kamruzzaman and Bhuttu Mia said that someone killed Safin on Saturday night and tied rope around his neck and hung him from a tree. At that time, there was blood on various parts of his body, including his hands and legs.
Mithapukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizar Rahman said, Rangpur Assistant Superintendent of Police came to the scene. Investigation is ongoing. No case has yet been filed in this incident. Meanwhile, the police recovered the body of a motorcycle rider named Ashikur Rahman Russell (21) from the Baldipukur bus stand area of the upazila in the morning. The deceased Russell is the son of Zahurul Islam of Anantaram village of Parsvartipirgacha upazila. Confirming the matter, Baradargah Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Solaiman Sheikh said that one person’s body was recovered along with a motorcycle. However, the cause of his death is not yet known. In this incident, the elder brother of the deceased, Ariful Islam, has filed a case against the unknown accused as the plaintiff.
