10 more people died in the last 24 hours due to dengue, a mosquito-borne disease. At the same time, 1,748 people were newly admitted to the hospital.
With this, the number of deaths due to dengue this year stood at 1,476. And in the first 11 days of November, 128 people died of dengue.
The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health reported the information on Sunday (November 12).
According to the Directorate of Health, 351 people have been admitted to the hospital in Dhaka due to dengue in the last 24 hours. And 1,397 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka.
At the same time, 1,928 dengue patients were discharged from the hospital. Among them, 369 people from different hospitals in Dhaka and 1,559 people from different hospitals outside Dhaka have received clearance.
In the last 24 hours, two people died of dengue in Dhaka and eight people outside Dhaka.
A total of 1,476 people died due to dengue this year. Among them, 863 people are in Dhaka and 613 people are outside Dhaka.
A total of 2,91,832 people have been infected with dengue till November 12 this year. Among them, 1,30,578 people are in Dhaka and 1,88,254 people are outside Dhaka.
A total of 2,84,173 dengue patients have been discharged from the hospital so far this year. Among them, 1,10,127 people from different hospitals in Dhaka and 1,83,046 people from different hospitals outside Dhaka have received clearance.
At present, a total of 6,183 dengue patients are admitted in hospitals across the country. 1,588 patients are hospitalized in Dhaka and 4,595 outside Dhaka.
The highest number of deaths due to dengue this year in the country was last September – 396 people. And 359 people died in October. Earlier, 342 people died of dengue in August.
The country has seen dengue deaths in all months except March this year.
According to the Department of Health, this year, the rate of dengue patients being discharged from the hospital is 97% and the hospital admission rate is 2%. Mortality rate is 0.5%.
From January 1 to December 31, 2022, the total number of patients admitted to various hospitals in the country was 62,382 and 281 people died due to dengue.
According to data from the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), 868 people died of dengue in the country from 2000 to 2022.
This year, hospitalizations and deaths due to dengue have exceeded all previous records.
