Barisal: In the last 24 hours, three people have died due to dengue fever in Barisal division. With this, a total of 166 people died in the entire department.
Besides, 229 more patients suffering from dengue fever have been admitted for medical treatment at the same time in different hospitals of the department. And with this, 613 patients are currently under treatment in various government hospitals of 6 districts of the whole division.
According to the information of the Divisional Health Department, Rafia (07), Shiplu (50) of Nesharabad Upazila of Pirojpur District died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours and Firozha (50) of Kaukhali Upazila died while undergoing treatment at Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, said the Divisional Health Director (Acting). Dr. Shyamal Krishna Mandal.
Meanwhile, 44 out of 229 dengue patients admitted to various government hospitals of Barisal division in the last 24 hours have been admitted to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital. Besides, 20 people have been admitted to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital. Currently, 200 dengue patients are under treatment in these two hospitals.
Besides, 38 dengue patients have been admitted in other hospitals of Barisal district, 20 in Bhola, 69 in Pirojpur, 30 in Barguna and 8 in Jhalkathi.
According to the information of the Divisional Health Department, 45,100 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals of Barisal division since January 1 this year. And 34 thousand 321 people have recovered and returned home.
Meanwhile, 166 dengue patients died in the entire department this year. Out of this maximum 127 people have died while undergoing treatment in Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, six in Patuakhali Medical College Hospital, six in other hospitals of Barisal district, two in Patuakhali, 10 in Bhola, 12 in Pirojpur, 5 in Barguna and one in Jhalkathi Hospital.
Acting Director of Barisal Department of Health Department Dr. Shyamal Krishna Das told BanglaNews that awareness is essential to prevent dengue. If people are not aware, the number of dengue cases cannot be reduced.
He said, instructions have been given to all government hospitals of the division to give priority to dengue patients.
