Gomstapur representative:
Another patient death occurred at Alhera Clinic on Muktasha Road in Rahanpur Municipal area of Gomstapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj. A housewife died after undergoing caesarean section on Saturday. It is said that the clinic authorities have settled the incident in exchange of 4 lakh rupees with the patient’s relatives.
It is known that Zohra Begum (23), wife of Solaiman Ali of Golabari village of Kasba Union of Nachol Upazila, was admitted to the clinic for cesarean operation on Saturday afternoon. Dr. Shamim Reza, the full-time doctor of that clinic, performed his operation in the evening. Dr. Zakaria Habib was present as an anesthesiologist. Although he died shortly after the surgery, the clinic authorities hid it and referred him to Ramek Hospital.
Later, when he tried to move his body to another place, the local people stopped him. Later, the police came and took the body away. In this regard, Gomstapur police station OC Mahbubur Rahman said that the patient’s relatives did not make any complaint, so the body was handed over to them on Sunday morning. The relatives of the patient said that we have made an agreement with the clinic authorities thinking about the future of the newly born child of the housewife. It is to be noted that a housewife died after coming to this clinic for gall bladder operation on August 18.
In this regard, the clinic director Shaukat Ali said that the housewife was operated according to the proper rules. He said that he died due to suffocation.
In this regard, the two doctors who participated in the operation were contacted several times on the phone, but they did not receive the call. Upazila Health Officer Dr. Abdul Hamid said that he has learned about the matter and if he complains, action will be taken after investigation. In this regard, District Civil Surgeon Dr. SM Mahmudur Rashid said that we will investigate the matter.
On the other hand, according to the opinion of the health concerned, the cases of patient death often occur in the name of medical treatment in the district clinics. Despite this incident, the clinic authorities are managing the patient’s relatives in exchange of money. Besides, since there is no complaint, the health or law department is not able to take any action against them.
