In case of death in a road accident, the family of the victim will get Tk 5 lakh: Shajahan Khan

Shajahan Khan, a presidium member of Awami League and president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, said that if any person dies in a road accident in the country, the government will give a grant of Tk 5 lakh to the family of the deceased through the Trustee Board.

He said this while delivering the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration ceremony of Madaripur District Bus and Minibus Owners Association on Sunday (November 12) afternoon.

Shajahan Khan also said that not only the family of the deceased. If a person is seriously injured in a road accident, the injured person will get Tk 3 lakh. And in case of such injury, the injured person will get Tk 1 lakh. However, in order to get this money to the family of the injured and killed person, the police report of the accident in which he was injured or killed must be available.

That is to say from the police station that the said person was killed or injured in a road accident. It means that if there is any accident on the road, a case must be filed in the police station. This financial support of the government will be available only if there is a case. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already started providing financial support to the victims through the Trustee Board.

Shajahan Khan addressed the bus owners and said that whenever there is an accident on the road, you always try to settle a compromise with the families of the dead and injured instead of litigating the case at the police station. He provided some financial support to the affected families through compromise. From now on you don’t have to go to compromise. In case of road accident, ask to file a case at the concerned police station. Then the affected families will get this financial benefit from the government.
