A woman garment worker named Sufia Akhtar (55) was killed in a collision between a CNG and a motorcycle at Kendua in Netrakona. Three others including the victim’s husband were injured in the same accident. The accident took place in the Bhangania area of Kendua-Atharbari road of the upazila on Sunday (November 12) morning.
Among the injured, a motorcycle rider named Nasima Akhter has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. And the rest of the injured were treated at the local health center.
According to local police, the deceased Sufia Akhtar and her husband worked in a garment factory in Gazipur. They left for their home village Uluati in Kendua directly from Gazipur late on Saturday night. When the CNGT reached Bhangania area around 8:30 am on Sunday, it collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. CNG passenger Sufia Akhtar, her husband Abdul Malek, Mojibur Rahman and motorcycle rider Nasima Akhtar were seriously injured.
Locals rescued them and took them to Kendua Upazila Health Complex, Sufia Akhter was declared dead by the doctor in charge.
The officer in charge (OC) of Kendua police station confirmed this information. Enamul Haque said, ‘On receiving the news, the police went to the hospital and brought the body of the deceased woman to the police station. Necessary legal action is under process in this incident.’
