After completing the World Cup journey, Bangladesh has to be a spectator for now. Despite winning three each in the previous three World Cups, this time they have to settle for just two. Despite carrying the lantern of hope of playing in the semi-finals, Bangladesh has left the table at number eight due to successive failures. Despite a disappointing performance, Shakib Al Hasan’s team earned huge sums of money. Bangladesh is getting more than one and a half million rupees from the prize money of the World Cup.

ICC has allocated a total of 10 million dollars or about 110 crores of prize money for the ongoing World Cup. Each team that leaves before the semi-finals will receive one lakh dollars or about one crore ten lakh taka. Besides, a team got 40 thousand dollars for winning each match in the round robin league.

Bangladesh has won two out of nine matches in this tournament. Apart from this, the money received by them for playing in the first round is about 1 crore 4 million dollars or 1 crore 54 lakh taka. This is the lowest amount received by any team in the current season. So far three teams including Bangladesh have won two matches. While Sri Lanka are the first to return home after the World Cup, another team, the Netherlands, faces India today (Sunday).

Looking at the prize money for the semi-finals and finals, it can be seen that the winning team of the World Cup will get 4 million dollars (about 44 crore rupees) and the runner-up team will get 20 lakh dollars (about 22 crore rupees). Both the losing teams in the semi-finals will get an equal amount of money. Two teams will be paid eight lakh dollars (about 8 crore 78 lakh taka). India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand have already entered the semi-finals. Apart from this, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been eliminated from the World Cup with four wins each and England with three wins.

10 teams have participated in this tournament of world cricket excellence. A total of 48 matches are being played at 10 venues in India. The 45th match is going on today. According to the playing conditions, the first and fourth teams in the table will meet in the first semi-final. As a result, India and New Zealand will play in the first semi-final of the World Cup on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They played against each other in the semi-finals last season as well. New Zealand reached the final by defeating India by 18 runs. In another semi-final next day (November 16) Australia-South Africa will meet in Kolkata. The last time these two teams met in the semi-finals of the World Cup was in the 2007 World Cup. Ajira played the final by defeating Seva’s Proteas by 7 wickets.

Both semi-finals of the World Cup will be held in day-night schedule. The matches will start at 2:30 pm Bangladesh time. Although there is no reserve-day in any of the league matches, this facility is kept for the semi-finals. In case of rain or any other reason, there is a risk of cancellation of the match, it will be taken on the reserve day.
