Chapainawabganj District Chhatra Dal President and Feni District Jubo Dal President have been arrested by RAB in connection with the killing of police constable Amirul Haque Parvez during the clashes surrounding the BNP rally.
RAB headquarters said in a message on Sunday afternoon, Chapainawabganj District Chhatra Dal President Md. RAB-5 arrested Yusuf Ali from Chapainawabganj Sadar area. He is named as accused in police murder case.
In the same case, RAB-7 arrested Feni District Youth Party President Zakir Hossain Jasim from Feni Sadar area.
On October 28, during the general meeting of BNP in Naya Paltan, the party workers clashed with the police in Kakrail. Later it spread to the surrounding area. Police constable Amirul Haque Parvez was beaten to death in that clash.
In this incident, SI Masuk Miah of Mirpur Division of Detective Police registered a case against 164 people including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Paltan police station that night.
It is stated in the statement of the case that the plaintiff along with other policemen were on duty at the eastern end of Calvert Road of Paltan police station on October 28, in view of the mass gathering of BNP. ‘Thousands’ of activists of BNP and allied organizations attacked them around 3:30. Several policemen including ADC (DB-Wari Zone) Ilyach Hossain, Constable Amirul Haque were injured in the brick pelting.
At that time, when Amirul Haque tried to enter the DR Tower in ‘self-defence’, the BNP activists threw him on the road and hit him on various parts of his body with bricks and sticks. Amirul was lying on the road in a serious bleeding condition. The attackers fled when the police threw tearshells and sound grenades. When Amirul was later taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead.
Apart from BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among the accused in this case are Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Ameer Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Nipun Roy, Aminul Haque, Habibun Nabi Khan, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, SM Jilani, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Shamsur. Rahman Shimul Biswas, Tabith Awal, Rafiqul Islam Mahatab, Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, Engineer Ishraq, Rashed Iqbal Khan, Saif Mahmud Jewel, Kazi Rawanakul Haque Shravan and other leaders and activists of BNP and allied organizations are named.
