A bride named Jharna (17) was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Nangalkot, Comilla. The incident happened on Saturday (November 11) evening at a large house in Kendra village of the municipality. The deceased Jharna is the daughter of Abdul Jalil of that village.
The deceased’s father, Abdul Jalil, said that he runs a tea shop next to the house. At 6 o’clock in the evening, the neighbors came to know that various noises were heard in his house. He went to the house and found the door closed from the inside. Through the window, he saw the frozen body of his daughter lying under the bed. There is another open door on the north side of the room. His daughter was killed by miscreants and escaped.
He also said that his daughter Jharna’s mobile phone was stolen a few days ago and if the thieves received a call on the stolen phone, they said they would file a case with the Jharna police station. Then the mobile phone was found near the house. Maybe that thief gang would get mad and kill his daughter. He demanded quick arrest and punishment of the killers.
The deceased’s elder sister said that her sister Jharna got married to her cousin in Jodda 17 days ago. Her husband is abroad, whoever or whoever killed my sister wants justice for the killer in proper investigation.
The local residents rescued Jharna and took her to the Nangalkot Upazila Health Complex, where the working doctor declared Jharna dead.
On receiving the information, the Nangalkot police station recovered the body of the deceased.
Nangalkot Police Inspector (Investigation) Saiful Islam said that Jharna’s body will be recovered and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The case is pending.
