Islam Garments supervisor Jalal Uddin (42) died after being shot by the police during the labor movement in Gazipur’s Konabari.
This Sunday morning Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost Assistant Incharge (ASI) Md. Masood Mia confirmed the death to The Daily Star.

He said that Jalal Uddin died on Saturday night while undergoing treatment. He was being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Masud Mia also said that his body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
Jalal Uddin’s brother-in-law Rezaul Karim said that his brother-in-law was the supervisor of Islam Garments in Zarun area of Konabari. Jalal lived in that area with his wife Nargis Parveen and only daughter. His house is in Kendua police station of Netrakona district.
Rezaul said that the police opened fire on the protest of garment workers in Jarun area around 8 am on November 8, demanding an increase in salary and allowances. This injured Jalal, who was shot in the stomach. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital that day.
On the same day, female garment worker Anjuara Khatun (28) was shot dead by the police.
