According to the East Central Railway, the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express met with an accident in Jharkhand’s Koderma district on Saturday. At 12:05 PM near Gomoh and Koderma railway stations near Parsabad, the overhead power line suddenly snapped. The driver hit the emergency brake when the power went out.
At that time, the speed of the Delhi-bound train was 130 km per hour. Suddenly the driver applied the brakes and the train jolted violently. Everything inside the train turns upside down. The passengers were thrown out. Two passengers were seriously injured in the violent jolt and Chand died within moments. Soon after receiving the news, several senior officials including Dhanbad Railway Division Manager KK Sinha arrived there. After the accident, train services were suspended on the Koderma-Gomoh section of the railway division for about four hours. A diesel engine was later sent to the accident site. That engine pulls the Purushottam Express to Gomah. A new electric engine is also added there. Then the Purushottam Express left for Delhi.
