Abdur Razzak Rakib (23), a sand trader was killed in Mymensingh by stabbing. The incident took place on Saturday (November 11) around 8:30 pm in the toll plaza area of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge in the city.
The deceased is the son of deceased Usman Gani of Charkalibari area of Ward No. 32 of Rakib Nagar. Angry people blocked the Mymensingh-Shambuganj road for about two hours to protest the killing of Rakib. Later the police went and took control of the situation. The officer in charge of Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station Shah Kamal Akand said that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
According to police and local sources, there was an argument between people in a truck and a microbus in the Charkalibari toll plaza area. After some time, Rakib and some others were seriously injured in the stabbing of miscreants. Rakib died after they were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Two other seriously injured people have been admitted to the hospital.
Mamun Mia, uncle of the deceased, said that Rakib used to trade in sand. He was going from home to the city at night. When the two parties start fighting on the way, he steps forward to stop them. At that time he was seriously injured by stabbing and beating with a rod. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.
