New Delhi: Dhanteras is celebrated across the country on the Friday before Diwali. Many people buy gold and silver on this day. Besides, there is a custom to buy precious metals, janta etc. This day is very important for businesses in various sectors. And this time the business in Dhanteras exceeded last year’s business too. About 50 thousand crores of business was done across the country on Friday.

On the day of Dhanteras, from morning till night, there was a frenzy of buying various items in the markets of the country. Some bought gold, silver, some utensils, some two or four wheelers. According to CAIT, on the occasion of Dhanteras this year there was a business of 50 thousand crore rupees across the country. On this day only in Delhi there was a business of 5000 crore rupees.

It is learned that the condition of Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar in capital Delhi was such that there was no space to step into the market and shoppers had to wade through long queues of people. On that day only gold or silver jewelery worth 27 thousand crore rupees was bought in the country.

Pankaj Arora, president of All India Jewelers and Goldsmiths Federation, said that gold, silver and other valuables worth around Rs 30,000 crore were traded in Dhanteras on that day. 27,000 crores worth of jewelery alone was sold. Last year i.e. 2022, Dhanteras traded gold and silver worth 25 thousand crore rupees.
