Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Narsingdi today after 19 years. South Asia’s largest ‘Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer Factory’ will be inaugurated. Through this, Bangladesh is entering a new era to meet the shortage of fertilizers within the country as well as to reduce import dependence. About 1 million metric tons of urea fertilizer will be produced annually from here. Direct and indirect employment will be around 30 thousand people. Today at 11:30 PM, the Prime Minister will travel by helicopter from Dhaka to Ghorashal. Visit the fertilizer plant at 12 noon. The Prime Minister will be briefed on a point. Later, the prime minister will address the rally organized at the fertilizer factory premises and will inaugurate 11 development projects including the urea fertilizer project. The Prime Minister will release the commemorative postage stamps, envelopes and seals published on the occasion of the inauguration of Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer Factory. He will address the public meeting organized by District Awami League at Narsingdi Mohleh Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium at 2:50 PM. The target is to gather more than 7 lakh people in public meeting. After the public meeting, the Prime Minister will leave for Dhaka by helicopter from the helipad built at the Satirpara Kali Kumar Institution School and College grounds at 5 pm. He is scheduled to reach Dhaka at 5:20 PM.

On October 24, 2018, the government took the initiative to build a high-capacity, energy-saving, environment-friendly and modern technology-based fertilizer factory to bring about revolutionary changes in the country’s agriculture sector, including filling the food shortage. Then on March 10, 2020, Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer Project started. CC Seven is a Chinese company and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited of Japan is a contractor. Its construction was scheduled to be completed in December 2023 by the two companies. But two months before the end of the project period, its work was completely completed and the factory is producing experimental fertilizer. Two months ago, this fertilizer factory will produce additional fertilizer worth Tk 350 to 400 crore. This project, built on 110 acres of land in Palash upazila of Narsingdi, has cost 15 thousand 500 crores. South Asia’s largest state-of-the-art fertilizer plant capable of producing 2,800 metric tons of urea fertilizer per day.

Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that the largest fertilizer factory in Bangladesh is being established through the implementation of the ‘Ghorashal-Palash Urea Fertilizer’ project. Which will play a big role in the progress of Bangladesh. Will save huge amount of foreign currency. Apart from reducing dependence on fertilizer imports, the factory will contribute positively to the country’s agricultural production, agricultural economy, and trade. Industry Secretary Zakia Sultana said that more fertilizer can be produced with less gas in this factory. That is, with the same amount of gas that was used in the old two factories, it will be possible to produce almost three times (9 lakh 24 thousand tons) of fertilizer in the newly built factory.

We are training every officer and operator in our country and abroad through Japanese consultants. At present the operation system is run by the people of our country, they (foreigners) stand. By doing this, the confidence of the people of our country is growing, if there is any mistake, they are showing it. Hands-on training. Our officers, operators are capable, they are showing their capability, they are being given sufficient training. We have already gone into production. We are now in trial run, everything is being monitored whether there is any problem or not. We have successfully completed the trial run. After inaugurating the Prime Minister today, we will go into full production.

ASM Mosleh Uddin, General Manager (Operation) of Ghorashal Palash Urea Fertilizer Project said, “The factory uses the latest technology in the world, so there is no need to touch anything in 30 years. At the same time, Bangladeshi engineers are also very experienced in the fertilizer sector. Due to which we are able to solve any problem in the factory.’
